The incidence of congenital valve disease is thought to be low in the Irish Wolfhound, but no formal data is available. The best way to diagnose this is by auscultation (listening with a stethoscope) by an experienced cardiologist. The IWF is sponsoring an Auscultation Clinic at the IWCA National Specialty show to gather such data. The Auscultation Clinic will be from 11:30-1:00 on Monday, May 20. Drs. Bill Tyrrell and Steven Rosenthal will provide exams.
Any hound 2 years and younger is welcome to participate. The location will be close to the show ring for exhibitor convenience.
Pre-entry is via the LCSII (Life Cycle Study II) entry form. If your youngster is already in the LCSII s/he will be on a list already; no additional signup is required. Your young hound must be entered in the LCSII by May 5th in order to be added to the list for this clinic. If you enter after that date or at the show, please save the confirmation email and show it to the keeper of the list to be eligible for auscultation.
No donation is requested for this clinic. Please consider supporting this effort.
